A. Purpose
The Santa Clarita Valley Special Needs Registry is a project of the Community and Law Enforcement Aware Response Committee (CLEAR), a Santa Clarita Valley collaborative dedicated to improving safety for individuals with disabilities.  The Special Needs Registry (SNR) is voluntary and free to participants. The SNR is maintained by the Santa Clarita Autism Asperger Network (SCAAN) in conjunction with the City of Santa Clarita, and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. The Special Needs Registry is free to participants.

Families or agencies can voluntarily provide information about their individuals with special needs so that law enforcement will:

1. Have a photograph, description and contact information for people with special needs in our community who may need special assistance in an emergency.
2. Be better equipped to help people with special needs who may become lost, injured, or who may wander away from home.
3. Be aware of special medical, safety and behavioral concerns of individuals with special needs.
4. Be aware of accommodations that may be needed in interacting with the person.

B. How to Participate
The Special Needs Registry is only available to residents served by the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station, those in the City of Santa Clarita and residents of the unincorporated Santa Clarita Valley area. The Special Needs Registry is confidential and secure; it is maintained by the City of Santa Clarita in conjunction with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Department and the Santa Clarita Autism Asperger Network (SCAAN).
